I was introduced to Regina just a few weeks ago and now I'm going through her back-catalog and let me tell you how talented this woman is. Her stuff is different, but her sound is beautifully unique and varies from album to album and song to song. Her most recent album is definitely the most approachable...Anyway, check out this video and you can actually listen to almost all her music, and view the videos for On the Radio, Samson, Better, and Us on her website. the girl is adorable. she's genius. i think she can pull off nearly anything... (except for the half-punk shit she tries to do with "i kissed your lips and i tasted blood", which, i dont think is the name of the song, but you know what im talking about).
i REginaSPECTor her a lot. but i feel like its so easy for people to get caught up in listening to todays hottest new music. dont forget to travel back a few decades and pay attention to the musicians that inspired this stuff in the first place.
Yeah, I agree, "Your Honor" sucks. But that's what she does-she diversifies; she makes a lot of different-sounding tunes, and I think that really makes her so appealing. Can't win them all, though.
Any musicians in mind a few decades back that have inspired stuff like this?
Many have categorized Regina as "anti-folk" music, which I don't know a ton about, but is she constructing new paths?
How narrow should we get with genres? WHAT IS THE MEANING OF ALL THIS NAMING?! heh.
